Also on This Date in 1976: 'Dancing Queen,' by Abba, is the No. 1 single in the U.K.

The Almanac Advises for September 4: "Dancing competitions are more popular than ever, and have become a multimillion-dollar industry. They are also among the most-watched programs on television."
