Aerosmith are still in the early stages of recording their new album but guitarist Joe Perry tells Spinner that some of the new songs may be made available in a more unconventional means prior to a proper release: via 'Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.' "We'll probably release some of the music from our new record as a download so kids can plug it in and play some new tunes on the game," Perry says. After having to re-record two songs in their for the game, the game the quintet learned the importance of keeping track of masters. And even more so when frontman Steven Tyler wanted to include Mott the Hoople's 'All the Young Dudes' as an homage to an early tour the two bands did together. "I spoke to Ian Hunter when I gave Jimmy Page his lifetime achievement award," Tyler recalls. "I said, 'Ian, where the f--- is that song?' And he goes, 'I don't know. The masters have been lost forever.'"
"But what's really funny is we were talking to the White Stripes and some of their early recordings have gone missing," Perry adds. "I guess that's kind of the last thing on your mind when you're trying to get your record out there. We never thought it would matter that much 30 years later."
