'Eight Miles High'
--The Byrds (1966)
The defense: The group insisted the song was about an airline flight to England.
The verdict: Not guilty, despite Don McLean's implication in 'American Pie' ("Eight miles high and falling fast/Landed foul on the grass").

WTF are RETARDS talking about?!
"Eight Miles High", and "American Pie" are two different songs with two different Subjects!

Yeah, McLean references the song in American Pie, but I always assumed it was because of the plane crash American Pie is based on.

Eight miles high also refers to the height of the mushroom cloud from a thermonuclear blast.
