On This Date in 1966: 'The Monkees,' a television program about the comedic and musical exploits of a fictional Beatles-like rock quartet, makes its debut.The Almanac Advises for September 12: "Primates are famous for their ability to mimic the behaviors of others, as borne by the phrases 'monkey see, monkey do' and to 'ape' an action."
