Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is going to bat for the Chicago Cubs. Well, not literally. The Evanston, Illinois native is helping to build his beloved team's momentum as they head into the pennant race with a new song, 'All the Way,' which boasts lyrics like "Our heroes wear pinstripes/Pinstripes in blue/Give us a chance to feel like heroes, too."Penned at the request of Cubs icon Ernie Banks, the song has become an instant favorite on Chicago radio and in area sports bars. The solo Vedder song -- which was recorded during a Vedder gig at Chicago 's Auditorium Theatre in August -- will be ready for download in the "next few days," according to the official Pearl Jam website. Vedder is also considering selling hard copies, and may make the song available on CD and "souvenir 45 singles."
The song isn't Vedder's first public display of Cubs affection. In the past, he's proudly sung 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' at Wrigley Field, and once threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
