On This Date in 1969: Northern Star, the campus newspaper of Northern Illinois University, prints an article detailing the rumor that Paul McCartney had died in 1966 or '67 and was replaced by a lookalke.The Almanac Advises for September 23: "Some bands, when looking for a replacement ember, prefer to find someone with similar attributes as the departed rather than go in a different direction with their new hire."
