Cobain's Daughter Throws 'Suicide-Themed' Sweet 16

Every once in a while, real life turns out to be in such bad taste that even the folks at Fox might not try to imitate it -- as evidenced by word that Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of the late Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, threw herself a "suicide-themed" Sweet 16 party earlier this month.

The little scamp pulled out all the stops for the shindig, hiring Mindless Self-Indulgence to provide the soundtrack, offering slices of a cemetery-silhouette birthday cake and hosting a "who can look most dead" contest. We're not sure which one of those parenting books suggested encouraging a kid to mock a father's death so openly, but we're just happy that it wasn't published in time for JFK Junior to throw himself a birthday soiree at the Dallas Book Depository.

    Cut the kid some slack. She has had to deal with a lot of f***ed up things in her life, and this is her way of dealing with it. Suicide is something she has to deal with every day. Good for her for having some fun with it so it isn't as hard.
