'This Mess We're In' --Thom Yorke and PJ Harvey (2000)
Every rock snob's favorite duet of the past decade is the centerpiece of Harvey's Mercury Prize–winning 'Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea.' This pairing has an air of inevitability to it, from Harvey's trademark guitar strum and the Radiohead frontman's pitch-perfect falsetto to the song's tale of doomed love. It's what you'd expect: profoundly gloomy and impossibly beautiful.

Why do you people insist on commenting if you have no idea who the people are?

It's shoking to me how folks in the comments below are shamelessly addmitting their musical ignorance. If you don't know who Thom Yorke and Polly Harvey are you shouldn't be talking about music, really.

Confess that I have never heard of these people either. Have you heard of Josh Garrels? Matt Wertz? Dave Barnes? Jennifer Knapp?? I am 46 years old and though no music expert, I am no slouch either.

Radiohead, I have heard of. PJ Harvey, as well, but didn't know her actual name was Polly?

Yep..."Polly Jean," to be precise.
