    'Opposites Attract'
--Paula Abdul and MC Skat Kat (1989)

'Opposites Attract' was a breakout moment for one of the most charismatic and talented entertainers of the 1980s: MC Skat Kat, the hippinest, hoppinest cartoon kitty in tha hood. Although his debut album, 'The Adventures of MC Skat Kat and the Stray Mob,' was a commercial letdown, critics have credited this feline visionary with single-handedly kick-starting the gangsta rap movement.

are you kidding me!!! this is such a stupid one to name on the list. Paula Abdul was singing with an animated character and not a live person....this sooooo doesn't count. i seriously think the person who wrote this has a thing against older songs. i find it funny how he picks songs that weren't all extremely important to put on this list but that is besides my point. this is a waste of time to look at if the person who wrote this is negative about every little thing.

This song outright sucked. I'm sorry, it's stuck in my head, and I hate it. Generally speaking, opposites do NOT attract, it's people with similar interests, but that's me splitting hairs.

(Sigh) Anyway, this person doesn't have a thing against older songs, I think, though it IS curious how all of these songs are older ones, the duets. There've been some crappy duets within the past year, too, come on. :P

paula is freakin awesome. what do you have against her? the cat was pretty cool.. and the song was awesome. it's on my iPod, and yeah, opposites can attract. if you guys knew what you were talking about, you would immidiately think - oh simon cowell and paula abdul. those 2 are total opposites, yet they attract. i just proved you wrong didn't i. yeah i did. paula is amazingg. and i love her songs. especially opposites attract. in case you didnt notice, thos cartoons were wayy popular back in the late 80's.

Tiffany big What? No reason to be using the F word several times or calling people "Stuped".....
especially when you can't even spell Sweetie! And her name is Paula not Puala.... hehe
PS - and "ight" is Not a word! Go to School and Learn something, then you will have the right to make comments. Can you say Duh???

Wow, some1 is lost. Not even about this song, but the stupid line saying, "critics have credited this feline visionary with single-handedly kick-starting the gangsta rap movement. " Who or what are your sources for that one, and exactly what critics have said that. This statement right here shows they don't have much knowledge of music. Better go listen to some westcoast hip-hop. N.W.A would be one of the first of many to come to mind.

I don't think the writer was being serious. In fact, I think he pitched this article to AOL just so he could comment on this particular song and write a satirical blurb he thinks is so funny and witty about a cartoon cat.
Hey!!..writer!! NOT original. NOT witty. And most certainly, NOT FUNNY. Go make fun of someone else's memories.

Screw what so-called critics say, same with movie critics, more than half of the time the have their heads up their asses and don't know what they're talking about anyway.

Get the F outta hea, that is the dumbest crap I've ever heard. Kick starting the gangsta rap movement?!!! Ever heard of an artist named Schoolly D? That man is the originator of gangsta rap, not a cartoon in a paula abdul video LMAO!!!! Someone seriously screwed up on this article.

lol!! ...its just a song... and i grew up in the 80s ...the song was fun... bottom line. Geez...its not like were debating the essence of the soul existing within the third dimensional plane coordinating withing the sub conscious dream. shoot, songs are suppose to be fun, like "your the Best Around" from the last fight of karate kid lol

And as for the individual above, purplesealpup, people make typos...this is not an essay contest. everyone has spell check n they don't need you for that. Second, if a person types slang/ghetto/ebonics ..whatever u want term it as...it does not assess, display, or attribute to the person's level of intellect. I grew up in the Bronx, NYC and that kinda talk/writing is part of my everyday speech and yet here I am... head of Cardiology with one the US Army leading hospitals. So if I use "ight" does that mean i didn't learn anything in school? I'm pretty sure everyone here is commenting and freelancing out of pure opinion and they don't require a sphincter like yourself and judgmental ASSumptions on people. You know what happens when you make ASSumption...lol.

How old is the person who came up with list? Were they even alive when this song came out? Just because it is from the 80's does not necessarily mean it is corny.

ah! lol. I don't have a problem with the song, it is actually pretty decent, but it is getting so old. My choir is doing this song and it feels like we are constantly doing this song instead of others we need to learn! It kind of gets boring after so long. But like I said, decent song.

Are you people stupid? First off this song is FRIGGIN AWESOME! Paula rules & still does. Second and probably most important, Paula ONLY danced with MC Skat Kat in the video. To say she did a duet with an animated character is retarded. The duet was done with the group The Wild Pair, not a f***ing animated cat. Cartoon characters cannot sing theyre not even real. Do your homework, spinner.com

Did someone forget about about her following Spellbound album? Writers really surprise me because somehow over time they seem to forget the facts. As a kid I remember this song being popular and her success continuing with that next album.

Where do they get the "so-called Critics" from!!! How can you even say "Gangsta Rap" Started from some cartoon in a video. It started in the real stories of peoples lives. Good or bad things. Things so many people can't relate to and lucky they don't have to. Stuff I can write a book about!
I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE LET US ALL KNOWN THAT Paula & MC Skat Kat WAS BEHIND IT ALL?
