This is a good song... it's only considered cheesy because of the movie's success. I'd bet you anything it would be at least some kind of hit even without Dirty Dancing.

This song is always one that I didn't quite understand the fascination with it. The way I decided if a song was good enough for my tastes...was whether or not I would turn the station to another one when it came on and I did turn the station quite frequently on this little ditty. If not for what the song stood for in the movie, it would not have gone to #1.

My son and his fiancee plan to use this song as their last dance of the night at their reception. Apparently, this song appeals to many people, not just those of us who saw the movie at the theater and not on cable for the first time!

Love this song. It's weird most of the songs the trash on here, I've listened to today, and about 80% of them are on my iPod. Very poor choice.

I've always hated this song. That being said, let me say that it DOES NOT BELONG ON THIS LIST. Even though its not my cup of tea, the song has an interesting structure, good instrumentation, and two great vocalists.
Spinner needs to fire the whinny teen-ager they hired to make this list and get someone who understands pop music. Like I said, I hate this song and even I will admit its a classic...
