10 Worst Duets Ever: No. 7

'(I've Had) the Time of My Life' --Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley (1987)
We'd give anything to put this baby in the corner ... forever. The mind-boggling success of 'Dirty Dancing' made this syrupy gem into a national sensation -- the song ultimately danced away with an Oscar, a Grammy and a Golden Globe. Along the way, no one noticed that it was a massive ball of overheated cheese. Even our parents are embarrassed that they once owned the cassingle.

November 15 2009 at 11:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis is a good song... it's only considered cheesy because of the movie's success. I'd bet you anything it would be at least some kind of hit even without Dirty Dancing.

The way I decided if a song was good enough for my tastes...was whether or not I would turn the station to another one when it came on and I did turn the station quite frequently on this little ditty. If not for what the song stood for in the movie, it would not have gone to #1.

Apparently, this song appeals to many people, not just those of us who saw the movie at the theater and not on cable for the first time!

May 25 2009 at 10:44 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've always hated this song. That being said, let me say that it DOES NOT BELONG ON THIS LIST. Even though its not my cup of tea, the song has an interesting structure, good instrumentation, and two great vocalists.
Spinner needs to fire the whinny teen-ager they hired to make this list and get someone who understands pop music. Like I said, I hate this song and even I will admit its a classic...
