On This Date in 1957: 'Wake Up Little Susie,' by the Everly Brothers, claims the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart.

The Almanac Advises for October 14: "Narcolepsy is a disorder in which a person falls asleep at random and sometimes inappropriate times. This sleep disorder affects approximately 3 million people worldwide and is usually treated with stimulants."
