Brooklyn's MGMT have a bone to pick about their homebase's music scene. (We'd argue that few would, well, argue with these young lads.) When asked by Spinner to name the band's favorite and least favorite part of the Brooklyn music scene, MGMT's Ben Goldwasser responded, "My least favorite part is that crowd's don't really know how to get excited about something unless they know that they're supposed to be excited." We believe that's what many on the WWW refer to as the Pitchfork effect. However, Goldwasser did say that his favorite part about the Brooklyn scene is "that there are a lot of bands that are trying new things, and it's not all trying to find this one sound that everybody sounds like."
Goldwasser's co-pilot, Andrew Van Wyngarden had a different take: "My least favorite part is that it doesn't really exist. My favorite part of it is the myth of it." Checkmate.

They came from the Brooklyn scene, they are not supposed to be born in NY to be part of the scene, right?! Anyway, I guess to mention they are from Memphis would mean more since it´s the land where blues and rock pretty much started...
