Eddie Vedder Goes on a Diet

Cover girls aren't the only folks concerned about, um, well, internal housekeeping if you will. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is trying one detoxification diet on for size: the Master Cleanse.

"I just finished touring, and I'm on a detox thing," Vedder discusses with 'W' star Josh Brolin in November's Interview magazine. "It's a heavy detox, so nothing in my belly except water, salt and cayenne pepper. I'm doing the Master Cleanse, which also means I'm not smoking. I haven't smoked for four days. This is probably the first phone conversation I've had in 10 years where I haven't had a smoke. It's like trying to talk without using adverbs."

Vedder says the upcoming presidential election prompted him in part to attempt the body flush. "Yeah, that's why I'm detoxing this week," he tells Brolin. "It's just to set myself up for next month."

"Being on the road a lot... I'm ready to just clean up my act," Vedder continues. "I don't know how it's all going to come out -- this is, like, four days in. In fact, I don't want to talk about it. But it does feel weird. I'm feeling different ... I'm kind of walking around in a daze, wondering if this is all really happening."

Now Vedder knows what it's like to walk in Beyonce's shoes.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! A clense? Your body is a precision machine and doesn't require a "clense". Too much sodium can KILL you, and your central nervous system DEMANDS glucose in order to function. I guess the good news is if he does do himself in we won't have to hear anymore tripe about evil corporate empires while he plays his set under a sign that reads "Lalapalooza brought to you by AT&T"!

Oh, good....mfsboss, please spread the word! With someone as influential as you spreading the negative word about Pearl Jam, maybe I'll be able to get better tickets next time they come around on tour. Keep up the great work!!

    thanks!!

3 days with out a smoke?? Just quit, for your daughter, set a good example. I was very sick one weekend and did not smoke agfter 3 days I had to go out to mail a package, that meant getting in the car and that was an auto pilot habit I had to smoke when driving. It tasted like crap and make me feel like crap. When I got home I was thinking, 3 days, what in the hell were you smoking for? So right then I quit. I had been waiting to be sick so I would not want to smoke and could quit more easily. That was it.
    Good Luck on the cleanse.

So true mfsboss! I hope he's ready to spread his wealth around and give it to all the illegal aliens coming in like ants everyday. They all know Obama will let them get drivers licenses, free health care, and now Eddie's money too! Awesome!

I've been waiting for him to stop smoking. Maybe he can actually stop smoking. A little girl like Olivia does not need cigarette smoke in the air. Little kids get sick very easily so he should quit. As for cleansing, it's all good. Just make sure you take care of your system. Balance the acid and alkaline. If you eat meat, easpecially red meat, it doesn't always digest properly.
