Mitch Winehouse on Amy Winehouse

"I don't think being somewhere for six weeks is going to cure her problems. I think it needs far more radical measures. We will take the bull by the horns and deal with it."--Amy's father Mitch Winehouse, April 2008

If she keeps on, she will end up dead, just like my oldest daughter did in May of this year. She got so hung up on drugs and so far out there no one could help her. I found her hanging in her closet the day before Mother's Day.

The Industry is very dangerous to not only new artists but to all, she needs Long term care and not only for substance abuse but she needs mental health care also. For her fellow artists to say some of the mean things that they did tells you that the music industry is really a mess.

No one could really deal with international success, a failing marriage and an addiction to drugs in the global spotlight without showing their frailty. I'm not sure why people seem to think that if you a singer , actor , or dancer that you are still a human being and posess no super natural powers. Fame is is not a shield for real life.

October 27 2008 at 12:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThere's not much anyone can do when drugs step in to take over a life. If a person doesn't give it up it is either an early death or a slow deterioration.

I am thinking six MONTHS at LEAST. Then another year of transitional living. Classes for life skills, how to balance a bankbook, how to eat healthy, loads of psycho-therapy, and coping skills. She is too young to be this far gone in every aspect of the word. Good luck, Amy.
October 26 2008 at 11:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyShe has/had so much talent. It saddens me to see her destroying herself. Her parents need to be strong enough to go to court and have her declared incompetent so they will have the authority to have her committed for some type of treatment. Without that permission, they have no right to force anything on her...she is an adult.....no matter how much they want to help her. I hope that she will get some help, heal, and bring back the talent (hopefully) still hidden within.
