On This Date in 1988: 'Groovy Kind of Love,' by Phil Collins, grabs the No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The song was previously a No. 2 hit for the Mindbenders in 1966.The Almanac Advises for October 22: "While some slang terms are eventually adopted in standard English, others fall by the wayside instead.
