Sorry, kids. There will be no Halloween festivities at Bruce Springsteen's New Jersey home this year. In past years, Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, erected a detailed holiday display at the gates of their Rumson estate, but due to safety concerns and the overwhelming popularity of the annual event, Springsteen has put the kibosh on "trick-or-treating.""So as not to inconvenience you this Halloween, due to 'catastrophic success' (read: too many visitors for the neighborhood to handle) and concern for the safety of kids and parents, we won't be having our usual Halloween display this year in Rumson," a post read's on Springsteen's official website. "We wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween! Thanks, Bruce and Patti."
In previous years, the Springsteen's had masked characters dole out candy to trick-or-treaters as they allowed visitors to walk up onto their well-decorated main driveway. Many even speculated that Springsteen or Scialfa were behind the masks.
