On This Date in 1990: 'Ice, Ice Baby,' by Vanilla Ice, commands the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.

The Almanac Advises for November 3: "The allure of even the most impressive ice sculpture is that it will eventually melt. Though it will be the center of attention for a short period, it inevitably ends up a puddle of water on the floor."
