Umphrey's McGee Mash Zeppelin, White Stripes

On Friday night at the newly reopened Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, Umphrey's McGee celebrated Halloween in a rather unique way. As promised on their blog, the band delivered a night of "Monster Mash-Ups" throughout their two sets. Some mash-ups were three songs deep, including a segment that mashed the White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army' with Pink Floyd's 'Money' and Led Zeppelin's 'How Many More Times.' Another successful union was Daft Punk's 'Robot Rock' woven into the Doors' 'Roadhouse Blues.' In another clever move, Umphrey's invited a special guest, introduced as "Bon Scotty Osbourne," onstage to perform the verses of Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' with the chorus of AC/DC's 'Dirty Deeds.'
The band closed out the night with a heavy metal mash-up that layered Pantera ('Walk') and Metallica ('Sad But True') with the Gorillaz ('Clint Eastwood'). Well done, boys.
