On This Date in 1971: As an inducement to get fans to leave the arena at the conclusion of an Elvis Presley concert in Minneapolis, announcer Al Dvorin says, for the first time, "Elvis has left the building."

The Almanac Advises for November 5: "It's important for a guest at any affair to know when to leave. Overstaying your welcome is not just a burden on your host, it also reflects poorly on your social skills."
