On This Date in 2006: John Hall, guitarist and songwriter for '70s band Orleans ('Dance With Me,' 'Still the One'), is elected as a Democrat to the House of Representatives from the state of New York. The Almanac Advises for November 7: "If you are a Democrat, choose a candidate who best reflects your values, as that person literally represents you."
