Annuals Share Joy of Painting With Bob Ross

When North Carolina-based rockers Annuals considered cover art for their recent album 'Such Fun,' they looked no further than the epic landscapes of Bob Ross. Ross, of course, being the mild-mannered '80s artist whose program 'The Joy of Painting' was both beloved and mocked by a generation of after-school stoners.

"When I was young I used to watch the show a lot," lead singer Adam Baker tells Spinner. "He always struck me as amazing. He was so light-hearted and very cheery about creating these very deep and meaningful landscapes."

More than a source of cover art, Bob Ross' tree-hugging demeanor is even ingrained in the Annuals songwriting approach. "I am a huge nature freak," Baker claims. "A lot of my writing is very influenced by what's around me. There's a lot of archetypes involved: rivers, mountains, trees, dry rivers, lakes frozen over. All this strikes a certain emotion in peoples minds."

We believe Bob Ross would approve.
