On This Date in 1984: 'Purple Rain,' by Prince and the Revolution, reaches its peak position of No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.The Almanac Advises for November 17: "While air pollution can and does affect the acidity of precipitation, this toxic rain remains colorless and cannot be distinguished from nontoxic rain by sight."
