Which probably why it's their only good album.

The STROKES, are you kidding me! They should be called the JOKES!. What you have here is nepotism at its' finest. Have you listened to their music, they suck! They play one chord up and down the fret board with a continuous downward strum. It's like a 10 year old trying to play the guitar. Zero percent talent! They should just go away and collect their trust funds, God knows, they don't know what it is to work. I"ll comment on that in a moment. And the person who signed them should be fired! They obviously have no ear for talent, which means they probably also got their job through nepotism . The only reason they had a record deal is these Manhattan rich kids parents are in the industry in some way. The lead singer's father is John Casablanca, founder of Elite modeling agency. You don't think Daddy pulled any strings. Just another case of nepotism in the music and film industry. Why do you think music and film has been so bullshit for so many years? I felt this way for over 15 years. I live in Los Angeles and have been a first hand witness to this kind of thing. It is a very serious problem! I could tell you stories about how publicists in Hollywood tried pushing this band among young sheep-like actors, making them wear t-shirts of the band and talking about how great their album is in interviews. Not to mention a well known magazine labeling them the coolest band in the universe, with each members face on the front, having five different covers for the same issue. What a fuckin' Joke! The music and film business needs a complete enema. All the way from presidents of labels and movie studios to their relatives and friends they hire as executives, musicians, actors, writers and directors. Bring back the days of the late sixties and seventies in music and film, where real talent prevailed. Whether it was a label head, studio head or an artist, they were the real deal! A revolution is needed desperately. I guess I'll keep on listening to my Led Zeppelin albums, which no band will ever touch. Why may you ask will that never happen? Because they have real talent. You are so right! Most of the bands these days are "products" & talent has less to do with their success than how they are marketed & what connections they have.I'd like to see fools like these guys do 4 sets in a local bar sometime--that's IF they even have 4 sets of material. They'd get their asses kicked out here in the real world!!None of these modern day bands have any idea what it's like to be a real musician & actually work at it.I doubt if any of these pussies have ever even lifted an amp--they walk out on a stage that's all set up for them & pick up their guitars & do their 1/2 set & call it a night. The days of successful musicians starting out by years of "paying their dues" are gone & now it's all handed to them on a plate.

Well put! that Casablancas guy is the son of John Casablancas, and Albert Hammond Jr., the guitarist of the band, is the son (Or was) the son of Albert Hammond, a 70's musician. I'm poor so I hate rich kids getting their record deals. I paint and draw and no one pays attention to me; and these idiots deteriorate their health by drinking because it's 'cool', while I suffer from diabetes and have to take medication that may damage my liver, and I'm only 25! This world is really f***** up, to put it bluntly.

Thank you, Elizabeth. At least someone is smart enough to pay attention to what's going on. Keep your head up with your painting and diabetes.
