On This Date in 1977: David Bowie appears on Bing Crosby's final Christmas special, on which they sing a duet version of 'The Little Drummer Boy.'The Almanac Advises for November 30: "The master-apprentice relationship is still common in many trades as a way for a newcomer to learn a craft. Only when the apprentice is deemed ready by the master does the passing of the torch occur."
