Ryan Adams Name-Checks T.I., Beyonce and Mariah

For the music blogs and mags busy putting bows on their pretty little year-end best of packages, including, well, us, Ryan Adams has a few suggestions. Kinda.

"The new T.I. record ['Paper Trail'] kind of kicks," Adams told to Spinner when he and the Cardinals dropped in for a Sessions performance. "Still, T.I. confuses me ever so slightly because ... I mean, the flow is fast, and isn't T.I. supposed to be the King of the South? But I don't know -- some of it seems too boasting and I want to hear information."

Beyonce and Mariah Carey were also name-checked. "That new Beyonce single ['Single Ladies'] is pretty amazing," he said, "and that video is out of control. So unbelievable. Somebody said that supposedly she and [Jay-Z] got married under the cloak of night and that nobody knew. I don't really know if that's true or not but if they did, congratulations to them.

"Mariah Carey's [record 'E=MC2'] is sick," he continued. "Still so sick. She's just like Common -- bring another one out [and] just do it because she's got the ideas ... she's got great flow."

As for the reviews of his own band's album 'Cardinology,' which have been generally strong and favorable, Adams said he doesn't pay any mind. "I don't read rock journalism," he said. "When we walk away from the records, I know what we do in the room, and that day is more important to me than the perception after."
