Kings of Leon Singer Admits Anorexia Struggle

Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill admits he battled with anorexia as a teenager, with incessant exercise and minimal food intake."I always thought that I wasn't good enough," Followill tells Q magazine. "I'd do anything to keep my hands and mouth busy without eating." Followill says that he'd do push-ups to the point of exhaustion, and jog in blazing heat while wearing a heavy tracksuit to sweat off pounds. His diet? Coffee.
However, Followill says that he's since overcome confidence issues and has a newfound perspective.
"I want to look like I can defend myself," he says. "I want a guy to look at me in a bar and know he can't talk s--- to me or run me over -- even though he probably could."

I admire Caleb's courage in being so open with this. That is something I would have trouble doing if I had a past like his.

Why can't he be gay? "Must be" is definitely not warranted simply because of an eating disorder (although I wouldn't be surprised if there's some correlation between the two from the number of gay men with eating disorders I know personally), but I think if he's not out then speculation as to whether he's gay OR straight is all just that: speculation. With an admittedly super-religious upbringing it would make some sense to stay in the closet publicly. I wish straight didn't have to be the default, and I wish suggesting otherwise didn't have to be an insult.
