Almost two months shy of releasing their third album, 'Perfect Symmetry,' Keane have finally touched down on American soil for a string of intimate dates. The band, which arrived earlier this week, started off their campaign by recording an outdoor concert for an upcoming episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' which airs later this month. Meanwhile, they have three tiny gigs in Los Angeles, starting today, before heading back home for the holidays. But Chaplin said the band is looking forward to heading west once again after the New Year.
"I just feel that in America, there's not that culture of abusing the bands and artists that are successful," Chaplin said. "In fact, the thing I always thought about America is [that] those things are celebrated. For example, when we went to the Grammys, it was a great celebration of lots of really brilliant people. There was no kind of cynical or negative atmosphere to it. It was really just great fun. I think that's why America produces the best music in the world -- because of this great kind of creative culture and really, this sense that you can kind of achieve and do whatever you like."
One of those things is spend some time in the studio with Kanye West, member Tim Rice-Oxley noted on a recent blog. West reportedly played them his album and then tinkered with one of their songs.
"Kanye did some work on one of our tracks, and after that I sat in a corner and watched him do his thing on a song for Jamie Foxx," the lanky keysman blogged. "The whole thing was a real privilege and I learned a lot."
