Best Songs of 2008: No. 11

At age 19, Adele finds herself in the same situation as Stephen Malkmus when she sings, "Should I give up/Or should I just keep chasing pavements?" The tune is stylish soul with a wistful chorus that has a way of sticking around long after Adele has left the building. If she came into 2008 on the heels of other English chanteuses, this track put her on equal footing by the end of it.

Its a good song. This song is also on the Vh1 countdown for the best 40 videos of 2008. This song is at #26 on that countdown. It sounded like a true artist. I agree with most of you.

i like this song.. the first couple times i heard it i thought it was so stupid and it got on my nerves all the times i heard it.. but after a while this song seems catchy and everytime i hear it im singing it the rest of the day

I jumped on the Adele bandwaggon when I first heard of her on VH1's featured artist of the week. I listened to this song and all the other songs on this album. Sad to say and to my disappointment, Chasing Pavements was the only good one to be heard. I love love her voice and can't wait until she releases more hits like or better than this. Regardless, I still like her.

Adele is AMAZING. People kill me saying she isn't a good singer. She is very talented. Sorry everybody can't be the next Beyonce (love her too), but this girl has a different kind of voice that definitely sets her apart from all the other SO-called artists. Give her the recognition she deserves.
