Lol. I'd be drunk all the time too if I were James Blunt.

Its pretty rude as a performer to go on stage and be drunk or high especially if people paid to see a good show. As someone who wants to be in a band (and yes I play a bunch of instruments) I would never go on stage drunk or high. I've been to concerts where someone is wasted, and they suck horribly. And everytime it happens, I go to the band's tour manager and demand my money back because I'm piss poor as it is and I wouldnt want my money going to a drunk prick who doesnt have enough self control to just wait until the show is over.

stop being poor then, its the poor people who ruin the world, and concerts for the rest of us

and how does that demanding your money back work out for you?

Bravo!!!! Very well put and to the point. I totally agree....and I happen to be a 62-year "young" grandma!!! I have spent a lot of my hard-earned dollars over the years to see "divas" or others in concert, and it would totally piss me off if I realized that they were NOT giving me my full money's worth. I have paid $2,500 to see Streisand in her Millenium Concert in Vegas in 2000, and if she had done something like this, I would really be pissed. I guess I don't understand the current generation, who pays good money to see someone like Amy Winehouse, who is totally obliterated on stage. I do sympathize with her, though, and understand that she has a severe drug problem, but what a shame, with all the talent she has.
Anyway, your response just touched me, and made me want to respond to you for your honesty and insight.

ashleyislegend....it is obvious that you are NOT in a band. It is obvious that you also have no clue about the legends you probably love.
While I do not approve of drug usage, you need to know that most rock legends have ingested more drugs than you could ever dream of.
James Blunt is a putz. Admitting to being drunk on stage is not the smartest move...but then...neither is his music.

ashleyislegend if you want professionalism in music then i suggest you get into OPERA. ASHLEYISLEGEND WILL YOU BE GIVING SOBERITY CHECKS TO MUSICIANS BEFORE THEY GET ON STAGE. Shows are ment to be free, reckless, and fun. There have been some amazing showS performed by people under the influence. On the other hand there have been some really terrible shows performed by people who are 100% sober. The real issue is not if a person is drunk or sober but if the preformer is able to entertain the crowd.

To ashleyislegend,
Well, just be glad you didn't live through the 60's and 70's RnR concert era! You might have been in line after EVERY concert whining to the tour manager and not getting your money back.
Assorted drugs went hand in hand for bands and audiences. Maybe that's why all the concerts were so GREAT! Alcohol wasn't really an issue because of it's predictability to slur speech and stagger and forget lyrics. Whereas uppers were useful in keeping everyone...perky for the crowd!

I just performed this evening, was intoxicated, and did just fine as was evident from the crowd reaction. I suspect ashlyislegend is one of those people at the back of the venue with their arms folded. At the high school dance ,you were a wallflower. Perhaps a musician, but in no way a performer or an artist who is in any way in touch with the public/crowd/audience and will never be in a band because you are so out of touch with what people want out of a performance and cant get off your "holier than thou" high horse....

Obviously you guys dont really get what I'm saying. I'm 16 so being poor wasnt really my choice. I'm pretty nice to these people when I ask for my money back and they understand and give it back. Now when its a band I expect to be drunk then I dont give a crap, but when its a band that claim theyre straight edge it pisses me off. And I'm not saying I ask for my money back when theyre a little drunk, I mean completely wasted, and cant remember the lyrics to their own songs.

James Blunt is a very bad singer - and the alcohol is just an excuse. I'm sure he'd sound equally terrible sober.
