Wilco will release their first concert film on DVD early next year. Although the band isn't sure if it will hit shelves in February or March, the group's holiday edition of 'Wilco Mail' ensures the movie will be titled 'Ashes of American Flags.'Recorded on the band's February '08 tour, it includes material lensed at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa and the Ryman in Nashville. It was made with the help of Brendan Canty (Fugazi) and Christoph Green of Trixie Films.
Post holidays, Wilco will resume work on their next studio album, which is expected in the Spring of '09. And although frontman Jeff Tweedy has a handful of solo shows in late January, Wilco have no shows planned between now and April as they'll be sequestered in the studio.
Following the disc's completion, the band promises a handful of gigs in the southern for April and an extensive tour next May followed, most likely, by what the band calls "the usual summer hijinks with a new record and gigs everywhere imaginable."
