On This Date in 1945: Davy Jones of the Monkees is born in Manchester, England.

The Almanac Advises for December 30: "While a monkey-themed birthday party may seem like a funidea, it is best planned without any actual simians as guests. Most primates have a tendency toward aggression -- and would especially be unruly around noisy and excited children."
