Potent Quotables: Bono So Over Himself

"I'm bored of Bono and I am him -- I'm sick of me." --Bono

In a recent interview with Q Magazine, U2's frontman issued himself an uncharacteristically self-deprecating blow.

I love Bono. He is an extremely talented singer/songwriter. He has done so much for people who are less fortunate. I am very proud that someone who is Irish is helping to fight for those who are hungry and those who have AIDS. If you don't like him personally that's one thing, but give the guy the credit he is due.

How can anyone be tired of Bono? He's a role model for young musicians and an icon for us 80's people.

Ahhh Bono being a little self centered as usual--Of course! You are smart and can be critical of many things--including yourself. Hope there is a tour soon! We shall see.

PUH-LEEZE!!! Already! I do NOT want the entertainers' political and/or environmental views forced down my throat at guitarpoint; I wish only to be entertained by these self-important Dorks. I like the music of Pearl Jam, U2, Dixie Chix, et al, BUT I WILL FORM MY OWN OPINIONS!!!!! And how many artists do you think are taking the extreme crunchy/socialist/
"I hate America" stance just bc it will give them mass appeal to the "noveau hippie" trust-fund bunch who have money to burn on cd's, iTune downloads and peace rally/rock concert events? Frank Zappa said it best...
"Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar!"
concerts?

Sick of you too Bono how nice of you to be also. If you were a small bit as good as you think you would be great. So be a good boy and go away.

Sometimes when you're sick of yourself, its good to use your imagination and play characters. But if you play a character long enough, you'll realize that you'll need to find yourself again. then you like yourself. its good, it is best to be concerned with the other individuals around you. Maybe Bono just feels the need to be around more people. Maybe do some more volunteer work. Mingle with the commoners. It could be just what the doctor ordered. Find lots of cool new people to hang out with. Or learn something new. Maybe Bono wants to try different styles of music. When you get bored of yourself it means you need to break your routine, or focus your attentions on other people. Rock on Bono!

Thank God he is over himself.I am truly glad to hear it.I have always despised the moron and have long ago grown tired of him dumping on america for all the worlds problems. If he think we are such horrible people then he needs to carry his ugly self back across the pond.He don't have any problem with sucking up american dollars from anyone dumb enough to buy a ticket to hear his lousy music.Go away bono, you make me ashamed that i am half Irish.

Why would we be sick of your boring, whining, mediocre, uninspired song writing. Or your dull, whimpering vocals. Just go away.

Janie-- I agree 100% with everything you have said. My disgust and loathing for Bono and his constant anti-American rants could not have been more articulately stated than you have. Thank you.
