On This Date in 1993: The United States Postal Service issues an Elvis Presley stamp on what would have been his 58th birthday. The Almanac Advises for January 8: "One way to get kids away from corrupting influences, such as mindless rock music, is to interest them in a pastime that is both safe and fun. Philately -- i.e., stamp collecting -- is one such hobby."
