Phish Announce First Tour in Five Years

Break out the hemp, tie-dye and certain unmentiontables. Phish will reconvene for their first tour in five years. After weeks of speculation, the iconic jam band confirmed the first ten dates of the summer trek Thursday, which gets underway with a two-night stand at the Nikon Theatre at Jones Beach in Wantagh, New York, on June 4th and 5th.

The band has been in rehearsals since November in preparation for the upcoming tour, which will be preceded by a trio of concerts at Virginia 's Hampton Coliseum on March 6-8. Marking the band's first live work since its August 2004 performance at Vermont's Coventry festival, those three shows sold out in just seconds last fall.

In advance of those gigs, Phish will release the seven-DVD box set 'The Clifford Ball' on March 3. An extensive archival release, the collection boasts the group's entire 1996 festival performance, and was the largest concert in North America that year. 70,000-plus fans turned out for the event, which was held at a decommissioned Air Force base in Plattsburgh, New York.
