On This Date in 1966: David Jones changes his name to David Bowie in order to prevent confusion with Davy Jones of the Monkees.The Almanac Advises for January 14: "Identity theft has become one of the largest growing crimes in recent years. Many unscrupulous people have stolen from others by appropriating their name."

Yeah I always thought they looked alike, glad he changed his name so we could all tell them apart!!!!!! Should have put the two on the list for celebrity doppelganger!!
