Faces Keyboardist Says Reunion is a Moot Point

The Faces are reuniting, right? That's what founding members Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood have to say about it. In fact, since first announcing the reunion last November, they told British music outlet NME that the two of them went on vacation together over the holidays and wrote all the songs for the new album -- their first studio release since 1973's 'Ooh La La.' What's more: Flea is joining the band. That last bit might be confusing, but we're not the only ones who appear confused.Gearing up for the release of his new solo album, entitled 'Never Say Never,' original keyboardist Ian McLagan tells Spinner, "I would hope to sing a couple of my songs with Faces, but as there are no recent developments with them, the point is moot."
Interesting. We'll see how this one plays out. In the meantime, McLagan's solo disc drops on March 3rd, containing songs that are -- as some have described -- both rowdy and poignant. The album is dedicated to his wife Kim, who died in a 2006 car accident. Although he wrote the song 'Where Angels Hide' some years earlier as a tribute for his friend's late wife, he found himself playing it constantly following his own wife's death.
"It helped me get through those dark days," McLagan says. "It proved what I'd always thought, but now believe totally: that music can heal."
