OK, it's a year late, but Bruce Springsteen is planning on a 30th anniversary edition of his classic 1978 album 'Darkness on the Edge of Town.'
Like the 2005 reissue of 'Born to Run,' the expanded version of 'Darkness' will include remastered edition of the record, live footage from the era (including 'Backstreets' with 'Drive All Night'), as well as a documentary on the making of the album.
Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau, told Billboard that the project is nearing completion. However, he also said it's a matter of Springsteen being able to find six weeks to sit down and finish the project. Between the Inauguration, the Super Bowl halftime show, a new album -- 'Working on a Dream' due Tuesday -- and summer tour all on the Springsteen plate for 2009, it may be a 35th anniversary edition of 'Darkness' by the time it comes out.
