"Gone to the other side with my encyclopedia" --Tori Amos' 'Cornflake Girl' (1994)
According to Wikipedia, an "encyclopedia" was a series of "books" -- words collected in bound volumes of the printed page -- that gathered together comprehensive articles on alphabetically ordered subjects. Seriously. Look it up.

This expired lyrics listing is 'expired'. World Book Encyclopedia has a 2009 edition you can purchase, so I'd say it's far from extinct. You can never believe everything you read in the news or on the internet.

Libraries still have them!:) I think they said that with a bit of sarcasm.

Strange choice....printed word is not outdated, and is not likely to be for another few decades. But hell, what do I know. I'm just a computer teacher.

Um, saying that using an encyclopedia is out of date shows just how stupid today's younger generation thinks.
If you lose power, the world ends too! What was life like before internet and cell phones? Damn good and a hell of a lot more quiet!

Ummm...I think they're trying to be funny with the one about the encyclopedia. Hyperlinking wikipedia gives it away.

I am 19 years old and I certainly don't think the encycolpedia is outdated and neither is the dictionary. I happen to love reading both of them on a regular basis. Only idiots rely strictly on technology you need to be able to do things yourself. Whoever wrote this article would probably stick a gun in their mouth if their cellphones battery died -___-

Uh the printing of books is a form of technology as well. So don't judge. I mean technically if you couldn't live without books you couldn't live without technology either. I mean books don't just come out of nature. People seem to think just new technology is bad.

People thought the written word was from the devil! Before the written word, everything was handed down verbally. They thought it would kill that, AND IT DID, in many ways. But who wants to rely on GRAMPS to tell us about things?

This has almost nothing to do with how the younger generation thinks unless you're in your I don't know... 60s most of the people that work for spinner are around 30 and up anyway I'm 15 and even I know that print and encyclopedias will definitely be around a long time. This list kinda stinks
