Eddie Van Halen Considering New Tunes With David Lee Roth

Eddie Van Halen has a few milestones coming up this year. First, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will wed his fiancee, Janie Liszweski, in June. Then, he'll attend the high school graduation of his son -- and bass player -- Wolfgang. But after that, Eddie hopes to release new music with the current incarnation of the legendary band that bears his name. And, as he tells Spinner, yes, that includes David Lee Roth.

"Dave, Wolfie, Alex and I are a band," he tells Spinner in an upcoming Spinner Interview. "I hope that after Janie and I get married, and Wolfie graduates, that we sit down and discuss recording new music, which I have tons of. If Dave's up for singing ... then do another tour, and just see where it takes us. Actually, next week or the week after Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we'll give Dave a call and see what he's up to. He's off, always doing his own thing, and he checks in every now and then to see how we're doing."

Meanwhile, Eddie Van Halen just released his signature Fender guitar series, titled, appropriately, Wolfgang -- a line he personally oversaw for more than two years.

A cap and gown: $48.50. A rock icon-designed guitar bearing your name? Priceless.

    Replacement Singers: Roth vs. Hagar

    The Dowd Familyat 2-04-2009

Here we go again !!! How many times have we heard about a Van Halen reunion, only to have it called off because of someone's ego or their drug and alcohol troubles. The bottom line is: No one cares anymore. Listen up Eddie Van Halen: you are the little boy that cried Wolf(gang); And your band is completely irrelevant. See you in rehab.

It must be relevant seeing how you commented on it.

Thank you! I'm not that old (actually I am 32) and I am almost positive that this is the third or fourth time VH has been reuniting with its original (well almost) line up? EVH should just pack it in and retire gracefully. I never saw the big deal with DLR anyway. VH was way better when Sammy fronted the band.

Michael Anthony's harmonies with Eddie were a big part of their earlier sound. I don't think they will recapture their sigature sound of the 70s without him.
    I miss that cat.

I miss Michael too. He is an original member, he oughta be there. Wolfie should have appeared on stage and played a few select songs. They probably threw Mike out since he and Sammy got along. I am a huge Dave fan and loved them with Sammy as well. How appalling to the fans no one but Mike & Sammy show up to accept the Hall of Fame award.

Oh darn I was hoping it was Guns N' Roses. The origional Guns N' Roses, Duff, Steve, Axl, Slash, and Izzy. I guess I got my hopes too high. Not that Van Halen's bad just I like GNR better. If you are wondering the "saul" in my screename does stand for Saul Hudson (Slash for those of you who don't know.)

After putting the guitar away during the disco years, it was Eddie that inspired me to play again. As long as he makes music, guitarists, especially from that era, will give a listen, even if its only out of curiosity.

Eddie,Alex,Dave, and Michael Anthony are Van Halen, The Band. Eddie is too hung up on himself to realize that. The line up that made the band is what people want to see and hear. Warner Bros told them that. Dave came back but that's not good enough. The harmonies are non existant and the bass sounds like what it is, a talented high school kid playing bass. He makes nice filler it's novel he's Eddies son but he's not the real thing. Let him make it on his own if he's good enough. They sold out shows when they toured this time because people were hungry to hear their music. I know I was disappointed and won't be back until they can get it right. A band is the sum of it's parts and it's not the same if some of the parts are missing.

sure they made 93 million on this most recent tour, but with Anthony it could have been 193 million. I have been one of the biggest VH fans for 20 plus years but wont go to a concert or buy a CD that doesnt have Michael Anthony on it. If he wants Wolfie in the band, fine. The kid is very talented, why not both? Sammy has two bassists, Anthony and Ramona....
