The 2009 Langerado Music Festival, which was to feature headliners Death Cab for Cutie, Snoop Dogg and Modest Mouse, has been cancelled due to sluggish ticket sales. This was to be the festival's seventh year, and their first in Miami (previous Langerados were held in the Fort Lauderdale area and, once, in the Florida everglades). Langerado's co-promoter Ethan Schwartz has called the decision to cancel this year's event "the toughest decision we have ever had to make."In addition to bringing world-class entertainment to its stages -- past performers have included the Beastie Boys, R.E.M., the Black Crowes, My Morning Jacket and Widespread Panic -- Langerado was in a certain class of festival in which the event itself became an attraction.
"Unfortunately, during these difficult economic times, and facing a first year in a new venue, it's become apparent that we cannot execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events," said Schwartz.
Ticket refunds will be processed in the next 5 to 7 business days. While we mourn the loss of a great festival (get well soon; we'll see you next year), we suggest taking the refund and using it as a down payment for Bonnaroo.
