Why all this talk about celebrities keeping their ideological beliefs to themselves? They are not Supreme Court Justices...they are citizens of a country and of the world.
I am a writer and beginning my career in the film industry and I'll be damned if I walk around the rest of my life - including my public life - on eggs shells being boringly politically correct (or worse - a silent partner to my country) for fear of offending those who 'don't want to hear it.'
You don't like it - don't listen...or come up with a sound debate to counter with.
U2 still has a sense of humor about themselves and they're doing more good in this world than most of you will ever dream of doing.
I'm not reading any more of this garbage, I'd rather read a good book or take a walk.
Good night and good luck!
I, am NOT sorry that I INDEED , enjoy U2!~ OBAMA- has NOTHING to do with Them. USA~ Elected him. TOO, many , whom have posted thoughts, have NOTHING to offer, as do I! THE, point being, MUSIC!~ Politics, are NOT the Point. UNTILL~ We have The chance to sway The World, We have NO buisness, dissin' ANYone. At Least Bono, is TRYING, with what he , and The Band has EARNED!~ MANY, have Kudos , in which to HEAR them. IFIN', y-o-u have a select understatement...DO something!~ orsilence.
Thank you, U2!!!!!!!!~

I did like them in the 80's, but now they have a very bad attitude, who hide their millions and think you should pay yours. Bono is just plain creepy.

Bono is a person, seperate from the band, who is passionate about many issues and take action on behalf of those causes. How many other celebraties have been nominated for a "Noble Peace Prize"? Some people need to learn how to respect others for who they are and what they accomplish rather than fault and criticize.

U2 have sold more than 145 million albums worldwide and have won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band. In 2005, the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. Rolling Stone magazine listed U2 at #22 in its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Throughout their career, as a band and as individuals, they have campaigned for human rights and social justice causes, including Amnesty International, the ONE Campaign, and Bono's DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade in Africa) campaign. Taken from Wikipedia.
I think that rock stars should not speak politics
and should not use their influence on the fans. I love the music but the politics leaves a bad taste. Keep the liberal views at home. We have enough problems right now with Obama's spending plan. This is one reason (besides the ticket price) that I don't go to many concerts anymore.
Look...I'm not going to say I hate U2 because I don't and I can't. I've been their fan for a very long time and I just can't say that I'm never going to listen to their music again. They are a great band as far as music is concerned. You gotta admit that they have incredible talent. However, knowing that they support Obama greatly disappoints me. I never thought Bono and the rest of the band were going to drink the Kool-Aid. They also believed that fool Hussein Ohama is going to be able to bring a great change to this country and the rest of the world. It made me really sad to hear that they sang at some Hussein Obama event. I would think Bono would know better than to go along with the rest of those other foolish celebrities. And because of this very reason,I can't ever enjoy their music like I used to. It's funny to think the last time I saw them in concert was in December 2005 in Utah and that day for some reason I felt like it would be the last time I would ever see them perform live in concert.
