Clash of the Cover Songs: Jeff Buckley vs. Scarlett Johansson
The Rules for Battle: Each week, we pit versions of the same song by two different artists in a head-to-head death match for musical supremacy. (Sometimes it will be the original recording vs. a cover version; other times it will be two different covers.) Then it's up to you to decide: Listen to and vote on which version you think should emerge victorious and which should be sent packing. May the best band win!

The Song: 'Last Goodbye'
The Contestants: Jeff Buckley vs. Scarlett Johansson
In This Corner -- Jeff Buckley: If you've never before heard this gone-too-soon talent, his sweeping hymn to love gone bad is probably the perfect introduction. The song showcases just about every aspect of Buckley's vocal abilities, ranging from sweetly plaintive to all out rockin', via a busked-up falsetto. Brilliant stuff.

In This Corner -- Scarlett Johansson: The sultry actress received some mixed reviews of her 2008 debut musical offering 'Anywhere I Lay My Head.' We say hats off to her for making a break from her usual oeuvre, and we even featured a Sessions performance with her in New York last year. Her rendering of Jeff Buckley's stomper has a jazzy lounge feel that's a marked and intriguing departure from the original.
