Song-Inspired Band Names: The Music Titles That Became Group Monikers

You're starting a musical career but don't know what to call yourself or your band? Well, look no further than your record collection -- which is exactly how the following acts, finding inspiration in various song titles, chose their names.

Lady GaGa
Inspired by Queen's 'Radio Ga Ga'

The electronic dance diva was christened Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, which definitely called for shortening. Her producer Rob Fusari based her snappier name on Queen's hit 'Radio Ga-Ga,' likening her glammed-out pop vocal approach to Freddie Mercury.

Of course Lady Gaga is on here. It's AOL Music; it's all mainstream crap. In my opinion, it should be Iggy Pop at the top. Now HE's a legend on stage.

I think Lady GaGa must have already been on the radio, and in various music videos, but I had no idea who she was! Weird name: Lady Gaga? Who the heck is that? I just
couldn't picture her! I still didn't know, but soon found out, once I saw her and her strange fashion, who she really was! She was someone so very eccentric and odd looking that I wasn't sure if I was looking at a woman, or looking at a flour-covered, small man! Should we be calling Lady GaGa, Sir GaGa? I dunno, but it does make you wonder!

I have to agree. I am getting tired of these people copying the beat and music from older songs and calling them their own. Hell I could do that!!!! Maybe I should become a recording artist. I grew up in the 70's maybe I could rip off a couple Boston tunes. They haven't been raped yet.

Everyone knows there are more band names out there who have taken their names from other bands. 80's metal band Y&T took their name from The Beatles "Yesterday and Today."

Okay first off, her stage name isn't too bad. It's not a great name, but it works for her. Secondly, her music is awful. I tend to judge current artists today by what artists were doing last decade. A lot of you may not like music from the 90's, but a lot of those bands were truly talented. Could you picture Lady Gaga doing an MTV Unplugged session, or see the Jonas Bros. do Unplugged? That's what I thought. Music today is so tenchonolgy oriented it's actually quite disgusting. The creativity in music has definitely dwindles. Without technology, we never hear of T-Pain (Although I won't lie, I actually like some of T-Pain's stuff). Look at what Flo Rida does, he's basically ripping off old cheesy 80's songs (You Spin Me Right Round), and remixing it with a cool beat. Nobody writes any cool lyrics anymore. Nickelback is single handely responsible for the deat of rock n' roll. Anyone who digs music from today is definitely being brainwashed.
