Song-Inspired Band Names: The Rolling Stones

The Rolling StonesInspired by Muddy Waters' 'Rollin' Stone'
"He stole my music," the blues giant Muddy Waters, who hit big with the song 'Rollin' Stone' in 1948, once said of Mick Jagger, "but he gave me my name." He doesn't mean that literally, as Muddy, born McKinley Morganfield, received his own stage name from his childhood fondnes for playing in mud.

Speaking of the late great Brian Jones he played the dulcimer like an angel on Lady Jane, still to this day my favorite Rolling Stones song

AS"THE SILVER--ROLLING STONES! (AT ONE TIME,IT WAS PRE-- SUPPOSED THAT THE NAME CAME FROM THE SAYING: "A ROLLING-STONE...GATHERS NO MOSS!" PERHAPS--MAY BE SOME CREEDENCE TO IT!) HOWEVER... WHEN BRYAN WAS 'EARLY--ON 'WITH THE GROUP, HE CHOSE THE PSEUDONYMN..."ELMO JAMES" FOR HIS PUBLICISTS' USAGE. SOO...IN CONCLUSION, SEEMINGLY. MICHAEL P. (MICK) JAGGER...HAS HANDED THE PRESS INTERNATIONAL ANOTHER 'SLURRY' OF B.S. AND IN REALITY..IT HAS 'PRECIOUS --LITTLE' TO DO WITH HIS "MUDPIES"! (YES...THE CONTRIBUTER RECALS "MUDDY WATERS"IS STILL REMEMBERED AS TH 'GREATER' SO. BLUES--MAN TO COME OUT OF 'ARKADELPHIA,MS. ..HOWEVER THE ONLY CONNECTION W/THE'STONES' WOULD BE A 'FEW' OF THOSE 'COVER' NUMBERS THAT SOCIETY "UNDERPAYED"HIM ON @ RELEASE TIME!"

A GONAD TRAFFIC JAM? OK, YOU WIN...YOUR COMMENT WAS WAAAAAY MORE INTELLIGENT...LIKE DUH DUDE. ROTFLMAO!
Mick and Keith went to business school. That's why the Stones lasted sooooooo looooong. marketing sense...
I fuc-ing love the stones as they are the best rock n roll band that has ever existed and they still are. I was trying to find the movie so I could see it! Sounds like I would find it interesting: I am sure it is really nothing that would bother me...I am just curious. If you know where I can view it please post so I can see my favorite band. I saw them twice and they were excellent- I only hope that I will be able to see them again before I die! Thanks fans if you can help me out!

The stones are great and I have been a fan since i was 5 years old....but they were better sveral years ago and Brian Jones deserves alot more creit and does guitarist Mick Taylor who relaced him...akot of musical ideas and just plain brillance came from the other members--but the Glimmer twins have always had the songwriting credit locked up....world's greatest R n' R Band-s t i l l !

From what I understood Jones was booking a gig and they needed a name before they could be booked and Jones did in fact give them the name the Rollin Stones, because he couldn't think of anything... he was on the phone and didn't have time to think of anything. If it wasn't for Muddy/Brian there would be no Stones!
