Hugh Jackman Competed With Mick Jagger for Wife

To get a date with Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness, actor Hugh Jackman had to fend off more than comic book mutants. Yep, the 'X-Men' actor -- and one of PEOPLE magazine's Sexiest Men Alive -- nearly lost out on a romance with his future wife to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

Jackman originally fell for Furness on the set of the Australian television series 'Corelli' in 1995. One evening, he invited her and 10 other guests for a dinner party that was nearly crashed by Jagger. As Jackman told London's Mail, "Deb's mobile phone rings. It's a very famous friend of hers who says, 'Deb, I'm outside Hugh's house in a limo with Mick Jagger and Mick says, 'Come down, let's party.'" The Aussie actor even seemed ready to concede the competition to the singer. "I say, 'Go with Mick,'" Jackman said. "But she gets on the phone and says, 'You tell Mick I'm having dinner with Hugh Jackman,' and hangs up."

Jackman and Furness were married a year later, and we think it's a smart move. Not only is Jackman 25 years younger than Jagger, the singer was also married to Jerry Hall at the time.
