Pearl Jam, DMB and Beastie Boys Lead Outside Lands Festival

Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band and the Beastie Boys will headline the second annual Outside Lands, which returns to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, for three days beginning August 28. Other notable performers include Incubus, M.I.A., Mars Volta, Modest Mouse, Black Eyed Peas and a highly-anticipated set by Jack White's newest band Dead Weather (featuring members of the Raconteurs, Queens of the Stone Age and the Kills).

In addition to the music and the historic setting, Outside Lands will expand upon last year's ancillary installations, all of which showcase Northern California's specialties (via a wine-tasting barn, an eco-village and a technology corridor, err, tent.)

The festival's eclectic line-up wisely includes some Bay Area natives (including Raphael Saadiq, Brett Dennen and John Vanderslice), along with indie royalty (TV on the Radio, Built to Spill, Akron/Family), dance bands (Thievery Corporation, Kinky) and johnny-come-lately's (Blind Pilot, Trombone Shorty). Also of interest: Brazilian legends Os Mutantes, veteran crooner Tom Jones and rap anomaly Atmosphere. The full line-up and additional details -- including the announcement song and video 'Outside Lands (Go On and Fix Your Hair)' -- can all be found at the event website beginning today.

So just like the days when the sounds of the Grateful Dead wafted through Golden Gate Park, fans can stroll down to the meadow from Haight-Ashbury to get their fix of peace, love and music. Only difference is ... this time, it's not free. Tickets go on sale beginning Sunday, April 19th.
