Prince Releases $2100 Limited-Edition Coffee Table Book

If you crave a "unique insight into the lifestyle" of Prince, you'll have to do more than watch 'Purple Rain' on DVD. Like, say, chalk up $2100 for a deluxe book set of '21 Nights.'

Granted, this isn't your average book. Originally released in a standard coffee table format back in September, the deluxe edition is limited to only 950 copies and comes in a purple velvet case (of course). Measuring 13" by 20", the leather-bound book weighs nearly 40 pounds and features 280 pages on silk-grade paper. It also comes with an engraved iPod loaded with the live album 'Indigo Nights,' and a 40-minute documentary recorded during Prince's string of 21 gigs at London's O2 entertainment complex.

The content of the book itself is a collection of photos by Randee St. Nicholas, and the Purple One's handwritten lyrics and poetry. The real prize, however, is a Willy Wonka-esque auction for the Number One Edition that will be held later this year by Sotheby's. Not only does the highest bidder get the first printed copy, they'll be flown to L.A. for a private Prince concert. Here's hoping for personal setlist picks.
