Alice in Chains Finish Recording New Album

Alice in Chains have wrapped recording on their new album -- the iconic Seattle grunge band's first in 14 years. "We finished last night about two in the morning," Jerry Cantrell told Spinner last Wednesday night. "We've been working on the record for about six months."

Cantrell, who said the band is thinking about a September release, is already looking ahead to touring for the record. "Any of the songs would be great to play live," he says. "There are probably four or five that jump off the board right away, and when you listen to the record you'll know why I'm saying this. There's really good music on there."

The new record marks the first with William DuVall, the frontman who joined the band in 2006 for their reunion concerts. After two years of on-and-off touring, Cantrell tells Spinner this album was written as a unit. "We did [write everything as a band]," he says. "My role has always been pretty strong as a songwriter, and that continues to be the case, but everybody's really creative in this band. So good ideas have come from everyone, and that goes down the line with the artistic vision. It's cool."
