Devo Call Rush Limbaugh a 'Great Example of Devolution'

Mark Mothersbaugh has a little secret about the early days of Devo. "Ironically, Devo was kind of optimistic," Mothersbaugh tells Spinner. "All we had to do was talk about things and people would say, 'Wait a minute. Let's do the math here, it's not gonna work.' And then the humans would wanna change things.'"

Now, three decades later, with the new wave band working on their first new album in 19 years, Mothersbaugh and bandmate Gerald Casale are a little less optimistic. "Nobody thinks the idea of devolution is far out anymore," Casale says. "Just look at the decimation of the air, land and water, and the crisis with the food supply on a global level."

But to truly illustrate the decline of the three decades since they began, Casale doesn't need to look further than the TV and radio airwaves -- namely, a certain conservative broadcaster. "Rush Limbaugh, to me, is a great example of devolution," Casale says. "He's exactly what we were sickened by, the kind of human being we talked about back then. He's a bad spud."

Since you have never heard of them, they should probably just shut up and never say anything. What right do they have to an opinion?

Vis-a-vis the freedom of speech issue, a lot of people get this wrong. The constitution says that congress shall make no laws inhibiting someone's right to speak, but Rush is hate speech, so it's not protected. Give me a break about the pain killers. He had his maid get them for him on the street. He's a hypocrite! Our country is moving toward the left, toward us progressives, and you cave people conservatives are only 21% of the country. You have no ideas, and anyone that speaks in your party has to get permission from boss Limbaugh. So sad.

I've never heard of Devo before and I read all the news everyday. So apparently they are a big nothing anyway. Have they ever educated themselves about the history of nations and governments? Probably not but who cares.

What a moron. Rush Limbaugh is a genius. He is a true American who lives with pride in the American values and our freedoms. He knows what liberty is about and wants us to beat out the suffocating cloak of socialism and its tyranny. Its people like him that are whats right with this country.

Is that you Rush? I cannot believe the remarks you Rush lovers leave , man o man you people scare the crap out of me and yes we people that do not like him, do indeed ,listen to him and he is full of total crap. Do your research people after he speaks and you'll find the truth about his truth. The fact that you Rush lovers are so very rude proves the point.
You know people lovered Hitler in Germany and thought he was a genius too, when they listened to his radio broadcasts. So go do some research about Him. I dare you or just be a loyal listener to a not very educated man.

Rush is Republican before he is American, tell me I'm wrong even though he wishes ill upon the success of the new presidency.
The difference is that I want success for America no matter who is in charge.

Whocares, both of those people are big no ones. Devo is a one hit wonder band. And Rush Limbaugh is a bigot close minded person. People get so worked up for nothing.

freedom of speech does give ignorant people the right to voice backward comments. but it does not make it right or ok. where does the line end between freedom and decency. people wonder why the world is in the shape its in, its because of imperialist who feel they are entitle to whatever they feel at the expense of the majority. no compassion, no love. rush is a pig, and my free opinion is that somebody is probably screwing his wife. sucker
