Sting's Daughter Hospitalized After Skull Fracture

Coco Sumner, the 18-year-old daughter of rock legend Sting, is recovering in intensive care after collapsing in an L.A. restaurant and fracturing her skull last week. After telling friends that she wasn't feeling well, Sumner tried standing up, but instead fell to the floor and knocked her head against a chair on the way down.

Father Sting and Sumner's mother, Trudie Styler, both rushed to L.A. to be by their daughter's side. A source told the UK Daily Mail that Sumner wasn't drinking when the incident occurred. Sumner's been recording her debut album for Island Records, and she still intends to finish the album after making a speedy recovery.

That's what Natasha Richardson thought. What's a life worth? Better safe than sorry. Take the time to have these things checked out. I mean, how often do healthy people just pass out?

God bless this girl that I never heard of in my entire life, but I wonder why we (as Americans) make such a big deal over ANY famous person being hurt..
This girl is probably just one of hundreds that fell and fractured their skull in the U.S. that very same day!
What about a one T. Rivera (an immigrant construction worker, who died that same day in my own town) who was crushed to death by a cherry picker.
We should all keep our eyes on our own and let the rich and famous take care of their own..They have the money to buy the BEST medical care..
    80% of others do not.

jctj823 not only are you right on what you've said, a head injury can also cause early eye cataracs and retinal detachments. All head injuries should be treated seriously.

For those of you commenting ignorantly and viciously, a skull fx is serious not to mention collapsing in the first place! Aneurysm, bleed....being a Critical Care RN for >20 yrs. I've seen it alll....Sumner and family in my prayers! I'm sure she has a top drawer Neurosugeon (probably at Cedar's Sinai).

Hope she will be OK. I wondered if she might have collapsed due to an eating disorder? It wouldn't surprise me....

    Hello Brittanyat 5-05-2009

i swear can we with hold our rude comments...yes we dont here over other people who get hurt the same way that are not famous, but that shouldn;g give you the right to say such evil and ignorant things. A skull fracture is a very serious injury and the fact that she collapsed before could mean something even more serious. Have some sympathy people. I wouldn't think you would enjoy hearing such things about someone in your family or a friend if they were in the same situation.
